Writing to us
There is no ticket system and no bot. Mail sent to info@amarlabs.net is read by a person and answered, usually within a couple of days.
If something is broken, four lines get you a real answer in one reply instead of three:
- which app, and its version — in Hukam, open Settings and look under About;
- your iPhone model;
- your iOS version — Settings, then General, then About;
- what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead.
A screenshot is worth all four.
Hukam
- My widget is still showing yesterday
-
Widgets do not refresh on demand. iOS decides when to wake them, and it holds back when the battery is low or Low Power Mode is on. Opening Hukam once forces the day's reading to be fetched and the widgets to be rewritten from it.
If it still will not move: check that Background App Refresh is on for Hukam in Settings, then General, then Background App Refresh.
- How often does the widget move on?
-
You choose, on the Customize tab: once an hour, every two, three, six or twelve hours, or once a day. Every one of those is free, and a free reader still walks the whole shabad in a day.
The two fastest settings — every 30 minutes and every 15 minutes — are what Hukam Premium adds. At 15 minutes expect some drift: iOS renders a widget near its scheduled time rather than at it, and it may skip a window when the device is busy or in Low Power Mode.
- How do I add a widget?
-
On the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area until the icons jiggle, tap the plus at the top, search for Hukam and pick a size.
On the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the screen, tap the area under the clock and pick Hukam.
Which colours and themes a widget uses is set inside the app, on the Customize tab, not in the iOS widget editor.
- I am not getting notifications
-
Open the Notifications tab in Hukam and check Show is on, then check the From and Until times — nothing arrives outside that window — and how many you have asked for.
Then check iOS: Settings, then Notifications, then Hukam, with Allow Notifications on. A Focus or Scheduled Summary can also hold them back until later.
- I paid for Premium and the app says I have not
-
Open Settings in Hukam, then under Hukam Premium tap Restore Purchases. This is the fix when you have changed phone, reinstalled the app, or been signed into a different Apple Account at the time of purchase.
Restoring only ever finds purchases made with the Apple Account currently signed in on the device. If it still reports nothing to restore, write to us with the date of the charge and we will look into it.
- How do I cancel Premium?
-
In Hukam: Settings, then Hukam Premium, then Manage Subscription. Or in iOS: Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or the next one is charged. Cancelling stops the renewal; you keep Premium until the period you have paid for runs out.
- I want a refund
-
Apple bills every subscription and Apple issues every refund — we cannot make one from our side. Request it at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that was charged.
- Do I need an account?
-
No. Everything in Hukam works without one. Sign in with Apple is offered and is optional; it exists so saved lines can follow you between devices later.
- Delete my account and my data
-
If you signed in: open Settings and scroll to the bottom, where Delete Account sits on its own. That removes the account from our systems. If you never signed in there is no account and nothing of yours to delete — your saved lines, colours and reminder times live on your iPhone only.
What the app does and does not hold is set out in full in the Hukam privacy policy.
- Can I read older Hukamnamas?
-
Yes — open the calendar and pick a date. The archive runs back to the end of July 2026, when Hukam started keeping them, and grows by a day every day.
- Is any of the Gurbani behind the paywall?
-
No. The Hukamnama, its translation and transliteration, the quotes, Nitnem, the calendar, the widgets and the notifications are free, with no account and no daily limit. Premium sells colours, photographic themes, app icons and faster widget changes, and nothing else.
- A translation looks wrong to me
-
Please tell us. Send the date of the reading, the line, and what you believe it should say. Corrections to scripture and translation go to the front of the queue.
- Which iPhones does Hukam run on?
-
Any iPhone running iOS 16.0 or later, which reaches back to the iPhone 8. Hukam is not a separate iPad app.
