What we build
Our apps are small and native. They are written in Swift for iPhone, they put their content on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen where you will actually meet it, and they work without an account.
None of them is paid for by advertising. None of them sells anything about the people who use it. What they charge for is optional and cosmetic, and it is never the words themselves.
Hukam
Daily Hukamnama, Nitnem, Baani
Every morning a Hukamnama is taken at Sri Harmandir Sahib — the Guru's command for the day. Hukam brings it over whole: every Salok, every Pauri, with English translation and transliteration, and the ang, the raag and the Guru it came from.
Through the rest of the day the widgets carry it a few lines at a time, on the Home Screen and on the Lock Screen, so the whole reading is read by evening. Beside it sit more than fifty thousand lines of Gurbani to take one at a time, and the seven banis of Nitnem.
Every word of Gurbani in Hukam is free, and always will be.
How we work
- The words stay free
Everything in Hukam that carries Gurbani — the Hukamnama and its translation, the quotes, Nitnem, the widgets and the notifications — is free, with no account and no limit. A subscription buys colours, photographic themes, app icons and faster widget changes. It has never bought a line of scripture and it never will.
- It has to run on the phone you own
Hukam supports iOS 16, which reaches back to the iPhone 8. Keeping an app correct on a phone that old costs real work every release, and we spend it, because the people who most want a daily reading are not always the people holding a new phone.
- A person answers the mail
There is no ticket queue and no bot on the other end. Write to info@amarlabs.net and you will hear back from a person, usually within a couple of days.
Contact
Write to info@amarlabs.net about anything: help with an app, a request, a correction to a translation, or a question about the company. One address reaches all of it.
If you are writing about a problem in an app, telling us the app's version, your iOS version and your iPhone model gets you a useful answer in one reply instead of three.
